Post Doctoral Scholar

The Department of Sociology seeks a post doctoral scholar to reveal how far-right extremists executed a decades-long plan to grow their movement in digital spaces while continuously incorporating new technologies into their tactical repertoire.  The post doctoral scholar will evaluate communication failures between anti-terrorist experts and government agencies that led officials to underestimate the threat of far-right extremism by assembling three novel datasets that document the evolution of digital far-right activism and government communications with experts and conducting qualitative content analysis on these data. The post doctoral scholar will identify the changing nature of security and conflict and better elucidate truth in a world that is fraught with dis- and misinformation. This position is part of The Ohio State University’s Presidential Postdoctoral Scholar program (PPSP).  The program supports the scholarly efforts and training of terminal degree holders who wish to pursue careers in research and creative inquiry, as well as providing professional development and networking opportunities.
