Job Description

The Lamar Postdoctoral Researcher will work closely with renowned faculty researchers in the Manship School of Mass Communication on research surrounding the intersection between mass communication and health. This includes, but is not limited to, areas related to digital and social media, communication inequalities and health disparities, computational social science, public health interventions (such as messaging and measurement), and critical media representations.
 
The Lamar Postdoctoral Researcher will also work with other faculty researchers in the Manship School of Mass Communication on their own research and collaborative research projects. The focus of these projects will fit the background and expertise of the postdoctoral researcher and produce scholarly work resulting in peer reviewed journal publications or creative work such as public website and regular social media posts. The Lamar Postdoctoral Researcher will be an affiliate of the Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs.

Job Responsibilities:

Research, working with faculty on projects. 40%

Provide teaching support (based on area of specialization) for graduate and undergraduate courses. 25%

Publish in journals or produce a white paper or other creative work. 20%

Develop public engagement opportunities in partnership with the Reilly Center. 10%

Other duties as assigned. 5%

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Communication or related field.

Additional Requirements:

FERPA - As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Special Instructions:

The Manship School of Mass Communication and the Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs at Louisiana State University seeks applications for the Lamar Family Postdoctoral Researcher to collaborate with Manship School of Mass Communication faculty researchers on health communication. This is a nine-month full-time position beginning in August 2025. This will be a one-year appointment with an option to renew for a second year.
