Job Description
We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Appointee position within Argonne’s Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division (CSE).
In this role you will:
Perform structural characterization of electrocatalysts and electrodes to support various projects and applications including alkaline water electrolysis, electrochemical CO2 conversion, and metal air batteries
Conduct structure-property correlation studies using in situ and operando methods such as surface Raman spectroscopy and synchrotron X-ray based scattering and absorption spectroscopy methods, in addition to conventional tools such as XRD, BET, XRF, SEM, TEM, etc.
Design, synthesize, and evaluate next-generation electrocatalysts using chemical and physical synthesis techniques combined with electrochemical testing using tools and devices such as rotating disk electrode, H-cell, flow cell, and full cell electrolyzers
Disseminate data and project progress through research reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications
Position Requirements
Recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0-5 years) in field(s) of chemistry, material science, or chemical engineering
Knowledge of synchrotron-based X-ray characterization methods such as X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) is a plus
Knowledge and skill in using in situ Raman spectroscopy methods for characterizing electrocatalysts and electrocatalytic systems

Full timeThe expected hiring range for this position is $70,758.00 - $110,379.55.Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
