Responsibilities:
-Designing and conducting novel experiments within the lab while integrating collaborators, analyzing and interpreting bioinformatic data.
-Contributing to future research through preservation of specimens at the appropriate collections,
-Training and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
-Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, applying for grant funding for further research projects, and presenting research results at conferences.
-Assisting with mentorship of students within the group and guidance on student team projects is critical.
-Oversee and manage laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
Required Education:
- Ph.D. in entomology or a related area
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Excellent oral, written and computer skills.
-Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Experience with student mentorship and providing instruction on relevant topics.
-Highly collaborative and ability to participate in interdisciplinary research, both within the university and internationally.
-Expertise in phylogenomic, molecular systematics, insect ecology, and forensic entomology.
-Supervisory skills.
