Postdoctoral Researcher - Obesity and/or Human Physiology (lsu)
Job posting number: #214133 (Ref:R00103636)
Job Description
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Human Translational Physiology Laboratory.
This is a postdoctoral fellowship in the Human Translational Physiology Laboratory for training in energy balance and carbohydrate metabolism research, under the mentorship of Dr. Eric Ravussin. The fellowship will provide training in clinical and translational research, clinical trial management including pharmaceutical trials, as well as develop skills in critical thinking, manuscript writing and grant writing necessary for establishing an independent research career. Specific expertise will be developed in understanding and performing measurements of energy balance (intake and expenditure), physical activity and body composition in metabolically healthy or unhealthy people with overweight or obesity.
The fellow will join a large multidisciplinary team and receive hands-on training in ongoing NIH and pharma funded clinical trials. Importantly, data analysis and writing via access to existing datasets will be encouraged. To this end, past studies of lifestyle, dietary and/or pharmacological interventions will be analyzed to understand how body weight, adiposity and insulin resistance impact physiological function across the lifespan.
Applicants should be seeking a minimum 2-year postdoctoral position.
Major Responsibilities
Design and conduct human subject experiments to investigate physiological mechanisms related to cardiovascular, metabolic, neuromuscular, or other relevant systems.
Behavioral intervention execution, data collection, data analysis, and preparation of data for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Collect, process, and analyze quantitative physiological data using statistical software.
Develop and optimize data analysis pipelines for experimental outcomes.
Prepare and submit manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals based on research findings.
Assist in developing grant proposals for external funding from agencies like NIH.
